Survey Design is a workspace for planning a survey before and alongside creating it. Open a survey and look for the Design workspace next to the create chat. It brings the study model, design canvas, AI planner, and a saved plan view into one place.

The Design workspace is publicly available. You do not need to enable the former design flag to use it.

Plan a survey

Open the survey you want to work on, then switch from the create chat to Design. Start with the study model to set out the structure of the study, then use the canvas to organise its design visually.

Use the AI planner when you want help developing the plan. Review the resulting plan in the workspace and use the model and canvas to refine it for the study you are building.

Review saved plans

The Design workspace includes a saved, versioned plan view. Use it to review the plan that has been saved for the survey and distinguish between its versions as the design develops. Because plans are saved and versioned, the plan view remains available when you return to the survey rather than only appearing in the current create-chat conversation.

The create chat remains alongside Design, so you can move between creating survey content and working on the survey plan without leaving the survey.

Availability

Survey Design is available publicly rather than only to accounts using the former design flag. This page does not establish which plan changes create a new version, whether earlier versions can be restored, or the exact controls for saving and switching versions.

To check: the survey navigation path and name of the Design entry point; the study-model, canvas, and AI-planner controls; how plans are saved and versioned; whether versions can be compared or restored; and the current screenshots for the workspace.
